• About Me

  • I am 34 years old, work as a Space Shuttle technician and live with my husband Andy, six small dogs, two parrots, and two tiny tortoises. Birds have always been a part of my life since having small pet birds as a child. I was a bird watcher in high school and even traveled all the way to Costa Rica mainly to look at birds. My career path has followed "birds" as well: airplanes first, as an aircraft mechanic, and now space shuttles. The main birds in my life right now are Charley, an Eclectus Parrot who thinks I am his real mother, and Holly, an Eleanora Cockatoo that we adopted.

Dream house delays

Throughout the past year and then some, there have been many times when our house project has been stalled, or was up against seemingly insurmountable problems. It is so easy to get discouraged, to see the whole plan slipping away. Somehow, at least so far, we have always gotten through whatever issue it was, but that doesn’t make it any easier when the next hurdle comes up.

Well, we are at the next hurdle. And I am still tired from jumping the last one, but still we trudge on. Please extend a little prayer for us that our access road issue will be resolved soon, if you are the praying kind. We’d just like to see a little forward motion on our project, instead of standing still or moving backward like we have been. I am about ready to just drag a damn trailer out to the property and set up camp. Then we would be real trailer trash but at least there would be no neighbors.

  1. That’s weird, I thought your access issues were resolved! I need to read your house blog a little more often and carefully!

I don’t pray, but I zen-hope for things and I zen-hope for access to your home!

  2. zen-hope interesting never heard of that…Anyways so wow you and andy love the battles this land must be very specail! But dont worry Im sure the end is drawing near! You guys have been through a lot and I am sure in the end everything will be worth it… Just take it a step at a time! And Im glad that all the babies in your house are safe now that the pool fence is up!!

  3. Jen I’m sorry you are having more difficulties with the road… as you say over on TH you know what the outcome is going to be anyway so even if you have to take a different route (technically rather than physically) then you can take comfort knowing that even if it takes a little longer because of this at least it will still be resolved. Lets hope “neighbour with the soon to be ex” accepts your offer of help and lets you deal with the county on his behalf. Sell the idea to him by saying you know he’s got a lot on his plate with his divorce and you’d like to help out by taking the responsibility of sorting the access road off him.

Either that or smuggle one of those alligators home from work one day…

  4. I can completely see you doing that. LOL.
